Ranking diplomats from Iran and South Africa weighed plans to strengthen the political and economic relations between the two countries.

MojNews_ South Africa’s International Relations and Cooperation Deputy Minister Candith Mashego-Dlamini met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian in Tehran on Sunday.

The South African diplomat has visited Tehran at the head of a delegation to attend the 10th meeting of the Iran-South Africa political consultative committee.

Highlighting the historical and friendly ties between the two countries, Amirabdollahian said Iran sees no limits to the enhancement of relations with South Africa.

The Iranian administration aims to develop ties with countries on the African continent, the foreign minister added.

He also noted that Iran has a special view on relations with South Africa, saying the two nations have very good capacities to sharply increase their ties considering that the 15th meeting of their joint commission will be held in Pretoria this year.

Amirabdollahian also hailed South Africa’s policies on the regional issues in West Asia and appreciated the country’s support for the struggle of the Palestinian people.

For her part, Dlamini expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet Amirabdollahian,

She also hoped that in the meeting of the political consultative committee, good and constructive talks would be held over different issues, a roadmap of ties between Iran and South Africa would be drawn up, and both sides would witness the expansion of ties and cooperation.
