Qalibaf emphasizes on facilitating economic cooperation and border exchanges between Iran and Pakistan

MojNews_ The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Pakistan, Qasim Khan Suri, attended the Islamic Consultative Assembly on Tuesday evening and met with the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly pointed out that the relations between Iran and Pakistan have a long history and this is deep and close since the formation of the Islamic Revolution in political, cultural, economic, security, etc. dimensions.

Officials from Iran and Pakistan have traveled to the two countries over the past 40 years, which shows the depth of close relations between nations and governments, including the 11th parliament and the 13th government that have just taken office. They are serious about increasing relations in the political, economic, cultural, etc. fields with neighboring countries.

He continued:

This is important while Pakistan has a long border with Iran and security issues and coordination between the two countries are doubly important. Governments, as well as parliamentary friendship groups between the two countries, must work harder to achieve this.

In this meeting, Qalibaf, while referring to the imposition of oppressive US sanctions against Iran, stated:

Accordingly, it is important to pay more attention to economic issues and border cooperation between the two countries, and Iran is fully prepared to increase relations in these areas.

The head of the legislature, while emphasizing the follow-up of matters related to the joint border terminals between the two countries, added:

The common border of the two countries stretches from the Mirjavah region to the sea, which is important; Cross-border exchanges have improved compared to last year, but are still unsatisfactory, so more facilities in the field of rail and road should be provided to improve this.

"The issue of banking and financial exchanges is one of the issues that could harm joint economic cooperation," he said.

Accordingly, the central banks of the two countries should try to pave the way for the interaction of the operating banks of Iran and Pakistan by facilitating communication and providing opportunities.

Regarding defense and security cooperation between the two neighboring countries, Qalibaf said:

Fortunately, there is a deep and good relationship between the security and law enforcement forces of Iran and Pakistan, and insecurity has decreased with the visits of officials to the border areas.
