Switzerland releases sanctions on Russia

MojNews_ Russia's invasion of Ukraine aimed at removing NATO and Western military threats from its borders reached its 80th day. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed yesterday that the European Union has evolved from a constructive economic platform created for this purpose to an aggressive and belligerent actor whose ambitions go far beyond continental Europe.

Meanwhile, Russia's Deputy Representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, said on Friday that Sweden and Finland's accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) would make the territory of the two countries a possible target for the Russian military.

Sweden's parliament announced yesterday (Friday) that assessments of its membership in NATO reduce the risk of conflict in northern Europe. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said he has no positive view of Finland and Sweden joining the NATO alliance, as there are many terrorist organizations there.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has previously said that Finland's entry into NATO will be "smooth and quick" as soon as it submits an application.
