The United States has returned sanctions on Iran over its peaceful nuclear program

MojNews_ A Biden government official announced the waiver of sanctions on Iran on Friday. The official added that technical negotiations facilitated by the exemptions are essential in the final weeks of the talks.

The State Department official added that the waiver should not be seen as a signal that Washington is seeking an agreement to return to an agreement formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The administration of former US President Donald Trump, in line with the policy of maximum pressure, had lifted the sanctions exemption for Iran's peaceful nuclear program.

The Associated Press also wrote that as US negotiators prepare to return to Vienna for further talks, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has signed several sanctions waivers related to Iran's civilian nuclear activities. The move was aimed at overturning the Trump administration's decision to end the sanctions waivers.

The Associated Press writes that the sanctions waivers are aimed at encouraging Iran to return to the 2015 nuclear deal that the Trump administration unilaterally withdrew from.

With the exemption of the sanctions, Chinese, Russian and European companies that cooperated with Iran's peaceful nuclear program are reportedly able to cooperate without worrying about US sanctions.
