The 28th Muscat International Book Fair kicked off at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center on Wednesday, with Iran participating in the event.

The Islamic Republic has presented over 1,000 titles on various subjects including religion, Iranology, Persian language education, children and young adults, as well as the Arabic translations of ancient, classic, and modern literature.

At this year’s edition of the fair, the Iran pavilion has paid attention to the presentation of various works and research on topics related to the Holy Quran and the recent events in Palestine. 

As many as 847 publishing houses from 34 countries have participated in the book fair. Of these, 676 publishers are participating directly and 171 others are participating through agents.

In addition to Iran, Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Morocco, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, the U.S., England, New Zealand, Canada, India, and China are among the countries that have attended the book fair with their recent publications.

The event features 152 cultural activities, several of which are focused on the AI impact on culture and creativity.

Events for children and families include workshops, a children’s museum, a green corner for environment-friendly activities, and cultural cafés.

During the book fair, there are book signing ceremonies in which a number of authors participate. There will also be agreements signing ceremonies that will see institutions ink contracts with authors and related procedures.

As many as 622,000 titles are listed on the book fair’s website, approximately half of them in Arabic and half foreign books.

A prominent cultural platform, the Muscat International Book Fair is among the most important cultural events in the Sultanate of Oman. It provides a great opportunity for exchanging knowledge and cultural dialogue, notably through interaction among intellectuals, media professionals, and authors. 

The event will run until March 2.
