The EU foreign policy chief announced the reopening of the diplomatic mission in Kiev and the return of the head of the delegation to Ukraine.

MojNews_The European Union (EU) has announced that it has resumed its physical and diplomatic presence in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.

According to the EU news website, the organization stopped its diplomatic activities following the start of a special Russian military operation in Ukraine and moved it to the Polish city of Szczec.

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, who arrived in Ukraine on Friday with the head of the EU commission, stressed that the EU diplomatic mission was resuming its activities in Kiev.

Referring to his visit to Ukraine, Borrell added:

With this trip, the European Union has returned to Kiev. I mean, the head of our delegation is back here, so we can work more directly and closely with Ukraine.

Matthew Masikas, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, accompanied on the visit, along with Joseph Borrell and Ursula van Derlin. He is scheduled to stay in Kiev to reopen the EU mission and assess the conditions for the return of other European diplomats to Ukraine.

Borrell continued:

During our stay in Kiev, we witnessed the ability of the Ukrainian government and the effective functioning of government agencies and government structures. The return of our diplomatic mission to Kiev will even increase interaction with the government and further support for the Ukrainian people.
